What is Enhanced Access?
Enhanced access is a Primary Care initiative that aims to increase the availability of appointments and improve access to care for patients. Enhanced Access involves a range of measures, such as offering extended opening hours, making more appointments available, and increasing the use of digital channels (telemedicine) for improved access. The goal of enhanced access is to reduce waiting times and improve the overall patient experience. It is often implemented in response to high demand for primary care services and can help to reduce pressure on other parts of the healthcare system, such as emergency departments.
